More than 100 residents from Boeung Kak Lake and Borei Keila gather in front of the court

Phnom Penh – More than 100 of Boeung Kak Lake residents and former residents of Borei Keila have gathered in front of the Phnom Penh municipal court in the morning of 04 May 2012 following a summons issued by the court against 6 residents. The court summons ordered 6 residents to come and meet prosecutor Va Sakada for questioning about a defamation and cursing lawsuit brought up by Ly Mom against the six residents.
The 6 women summoned by the court are: Tep Vanny, Heng Mom, Kong Chantha, Chheng Leap, Nget Khon and Tol Srey Pov.
Because of the anger and the protest against the court summons, more than 100 armed cops came over to put down the protesters. The cops brought along truck to arrest the protesters. The cops were led by Phuong Malay, the deputy police commissioner.
The road stretch in front of the court between the water tower and Preah Puth Pagoda, north of the Olympic Stadium, was temporarily closed.
