Dear Colleagues and Friends
Phnom Penh, 25 Sept 2012, representatives of Cambodia’s civil society will meet tomorrow with the Royal Government of Cambodia and other development partners bearing package of key asks for action on issues ranging from land reform to child rights.
Participants at a National Consultative Workshop in Phnom Penh picked the recommendations from a set of 21 independent reports published today as "NGO Position Papers on Cambodia's Development in 2010-2012".
The reports are consolidated from inputs and feedbacks of more than 500 organizations involved in monitoring development programs over the past two years. The reports praise a substantial list of accomplishments by the Royal Government of Cambodia but also target numerous unresolved issues such as good governance, transparency and accountability, democracy and judicial reform, land and natural resource management and more.
Publication of the Position Papers comes just as leaders of Cambodia’s largest NGO associations are to attend the 19th meeting of the Government-Development Partner Coordinating Committee (GDCC).
CSO joint statement to the 19th GDCC is attached.
Sincerely,
Organizing Committee
