Incredible news!

The 13 women who were arrested for protesting forced evictions at Boeung Kak in Phnom Penh, Cambodia have been released! [1]

We'd like to thank you on behalf of the women for writing emails and letters calling for their freedom. Their release is a clear victory of the Boeung Kak lake community, who stood in solidarity with these women to protest their unfair imprisonment in the face of violence by authorities.

I'm sure you're as happy as we are to see these brave women go free. Can you help us share this good news on Facebook and Twitter?

And what's more, today we received more good news from Libya, where Australian lawyer Melinda Taylor has been released from detention. [2]

Amnesty has a long tradition of writing letters on behalf of prisoners wrongfully detained - and we know it works. Together we've shown - once again - the power and strength of our collective voice.

We'll be continuing to keep a close eye on any evictions or violence against community members in Phnom Penh.

Thank you again,

Michael Hayworth
