Recommendation | SMR | ||
1 | As recommended by the Committee on the Rights of the Child and the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, intensify efforts to achieve better promotion and protection of the rights of the child | Algeria | Accepted |
HRTF Forced evictions threaten the protection and promotion of the rights of the child. Indeed, according to article 27 of the convention of the right of the child, every children should have the right of healthy living condition and adequate housing. According the data and fact of the last years, forced evictions had increased in Cambodia, affecting the lives of thousands of children. Expropriation and displacement afflict the right of health, education, nutrition and social development. The obligation of the state to refrain forced eviction hadn’t been fulfilled and since 2009 and the UPR of Cambodia, the situation didn’t improve but worsened for Cambodian children.
KUC Housing rights and land rights: We suggest that there be no more land concession to foreign developers, stop abusing and persecuting evictees, and find peaceful solutions and compensation for the land-grap properties of the evictees, considering there are fair market values. Stop concentration of wealth and land ownership due to insatiable appetite for wealth accumulation by members of the CPP, and the evictions that are taking over the land of the poor.
UNPO Cambodia adopted the Law on Inter-Country Adoption in December 2009 and the Law on Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in July 2009.
2 | Intensify efforts to promote fair access to land ownership and good governance, and continue reforms undertaken with the assistance of the international community, in particular the High Commissioner for Human Rights, to reinforce institutional capacities and achieve the enjoyment of full human rights by the population |
